Hey friends.
My morning skincare routine is a time for me to put on a good podcast and mentally prepare for the day ahead. I always make a point of making my skincare routine (both morning, and especially evening) time that I slow down and focus on self care.
Here are the products I’m using currently. Some are very affordable, but a few are a bit more spendy, but worth the splurge!
Video Below (Product links are in bold)
Hada Labo HA Foaming Cleanser This cost affective cleanser is a gentle cleanser perfect for morning and appropriate for all skin types. It won’t strip the skin’s moisture barrier, and leave the skin feeling beautiful.
Foreo Luna Mini 3 I used a clarisonic for YEARS until I started getting irritation from it. The Foreo Luna Mini gives the skin a gentle massage and increases blood flow. It’s much easier to clean than my clarisonic was and doesn’t hold bacteria. A very similar, more budget friendly option is here.
Jing Jun Sung Soothing Skin Moisture Essence This essence is a wonderful way to prep and even out the skins porosity before applying active skin care ingredients. It’s light but hydrating; a staple in my skincare routine for years is a good essence as a toner.
Timeless Vitamin C Serum – Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that helps protect against sun damage. With consistant use it brightens the skin and helps to even the complexion. It’s been scientifically proven to be one of the heavy hitters in good skincare. Not all vitamin c serums are good, however. Timeless is in an air tight container and contains the most effictive form of Vitamin C, which is L Ascorbic Acid. The timeless serum is not only effective, but affordable.
Tula Wrinkle Treatment Drops – If you haven’t tried anything by Tula, start with the Wrinkle Treatment Drops. This is a retinol product that I use in the morning (because I use tretinoin at night) If you do not use a retinol in your evening routine, the Tula Wrinkle Treatment Drops would be a great way to start. Because it’s in a Squalane base, it’s super gentle on the skin!
Alpha Skincare Glycolic Serum 14% As we age our skin doesn’t regenerate as quickly as it did when we were young. Regular exfoliation with a gentle acid makes such a big difference on the skins tone, texture and radiance. When adding new active ingredients into your skincare routine, always proceed slowly. Try using this glycolic serum once or twice a week and increase to daily if your skin tollerates it. Alpha is a very affordable brand that I’ve used for years.
Biossance Squalane + Copper Peptide Serum – I’m so impressed with Biossance. The products are thoughtfully formulated with high quality ingredients include squalane oil. I love how radiant, hydrated and plump my skin looks with the Biossance Squalane + Copper Peptide Skin Plumping Serum. Copper Peptide improves and protects the skin barrier, which is so important as we age.
Arc Sonic Toothbrush Before I got my Arc Sonic Toothbrush I used a Sonicare toothbrush. It was much larger than the Arc and had to sit on a charging base. I love the size of the Arc and the fact that it doesn’t have to sit out on my counter on a base. It’s less expensive than the Sonicare and provides the same powerful cleaning as the more expensive versions.
Elf Lip Exfoliator My daughter, Bella, got me the ELF Lip Exfoliator as a gift several years back, and I’ve been repurchasing ever since. It’s so inexpensive and does a great job exfoliating dry lips. The bullet design is easier to use that dipping your fingers into a jar, and the combination of sugar and oils leave the lips feeling soft. Best of all it’s only $5.
Biossance Marine Algae Eye Cream As far as eye creams go, I’ve definitely spent a lot more on medical grade eye creams that didn’t really do much more than hydrate the under eye skin. The Biossance Marine Alge Eye Cream is a luxurious cream texture that leaves my under eyes feeling smooth and supple all day. I love how it wears alone or under makeup.
Tula Vitamin C Moisturizer Combination products are becoming so much more commonplace. Using this you could skip the stand alone vitamin C Serum that I listed above. Because I’m a bit of a freak about getting as much of the powerhouse ingredients into my skin care regimin, I prefer to depend on my Timeless Vitamin C Serum, but enjoy that this Tula Moisturizer also contains vitamin c. I look at this product as moisturizer more than a treatment product.
Biossance Sheer Zinc Sunscreen I’ve tried A LOT of sunscreens over the past decade and this one is my all time favorite. It feels beautiful on the skin and gives great sun protection. I known I preach sun protection, but it’s so important!! If you get a chance to try the Biossance Sheer Zinc Sunscreen, you won’t be disappointed! (If you have really oily skin, you may be better with the Elta MD UV Clear.
Colorescience Total Eye This holy grail product is one I have purchased over and over since it was first launched. This could replace the Biossance eye cream to simplify your skincare routine. The Colorescience Total Eye brightens, moisturizes, and provides sun protection for the delicate eye area. It’s FANTASTIC!
Aquaphor I use Aquaphor for so many things, but I love it on the lips both morning and night. It’s also great to put a small bit under the eyes. If you haven’t tried slugging, it’s great for treating areas of dryness and plumping up fine lines and wrinkles.
